Meat Log Mountain
all of the wines we tasted were from bodega de uco. the wine we tried was a malbec from the 2007 harvest and it was just outstanding. the wine had a perfect balance of fruit, acidity, and tannins. i loved the fact that the wine was not too big, but had just the right amount of alcohol. the winery is located in the highlands of cordoba, and is surrounded by the andes mountains and the desert.

after a two-hour bus ride from cordoba to the town of etica, we saw the sun rise over the andes mountains and the snow-capped volcanos. we got off the bus and walked through the town, which was a collection of square white houses with wood roofs and dust. the wind was blowing and the sun was out. this place was unlike anything i had ever seen before. we saw cows, sheep, horses, chickens, and even a camel. we then walked along a river in a small town and in the distance, we saw the snow-capped volcanos and saw three goats walk by. as we walked through the town, we came upon a local football game. the game was being played between two teams of children, one of which was wearing blue and the other was wearing yellow. the referee was a local man. we watched as the players ran around the field and it was quite amusing. the game was being played against a goal in a nearby field and it was a goal scored with a soccer ball in a bucket of dirt. when the game ended, the referee shouted out the scores and the winning team went home with the soccer balls. we then continued on our way, and in a small town near a local river, a group of women gathered to bathe. they were all wearing colorful dresses and had small red hats. we then stopped to buy some local produce at the local market. the local townspeople were friendly and courteous.
